Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if I don’t have time to put my photos in order?
If you can not order your photographs, at least try to stack them in the order you wish to present them.  There is no guarantee they will not get out of order this way.  We also offer a photo sorting service and can order them as best we can for the video theme (see the pricing page for further details). However, if you do not have time to stack your photos and do not wish for us to sort them, we will incorporate them in the video in no particular order.  While it takes extra time to organize your photographs, it will pay off as the video will be much more meaningful to you.

2.  What if my photos need cropping or retouching?
Basic color adjustments are included.  For cropping, just note which photo and the portion of the photo to crop.

3. Can I use photos from a digital camera or photo CD?
Absolutely! This is actually preferred, as digital photos are not prone to scratches or other flaws of a regular scanned photo.

4. How long will you keep my photos on file?
It is our policy to keep your photos and project information on file for 6 months. That gives you the opportunity to order more copies of your Photo Montage at minimal cost. If you would prefer we do not keep your photos on file, just notify us and we will delete all the files upon completion and delivery of your Photo Montage.

5. How do I get the photos to you?
If you have digital photos, you can easily upload them on our website using our Upload Form. You can also save digital photos to a CD, zip disk or memory stick, and mail or drop off the CD to us. The same applies to printed photos - you can arrange to drop off your photos to us personally if you live in the Northern Virginia area.  We recommend you use a traceable courier if mailing.  Please go to the Contact Us page for an address.

6. Can I scan the photos prior to sending them?
Yes.  However, make sure that the scanner being used is clean and working properly (free of lines, spots, etc), as these lines will show up on the photos in your Photo Montage. Also make sure all photos are cropped and rotated properly.

7. What photo formats do you accept?
We can accept almost any graphics file format.  We have tested and commonly use JPG (JPEG), GIF (Graphic Interchange Format), BMP (Windows Bitmap), TIFF (Tagged Image), PNG (Portable Network Graphics), PSD (Photoshop).  If you have a need for additional file formats, please contact us.

8. What DVD players are your DVDs compatible with?
You can click here to see a list of known compatible DVD players. If your particular player is not on the list, contact us to determine compatibility.

9. What if my DVD doesn’t play in my machine?

10. What about selecting music?
If you do not have any particular style of music you would like to use, we can provide you with suggestions.

11. How and when will I get my photographs and other items back?
Your originals will be returned to you with your final video, packed and insured.

12. Can I play the DVD on a computer?
If your computer is equipped with a readable DVD drive, yes you can.

13. Can you incorporate other elements in the video?
Items such as plane or transit tickets, maps, postcards, certificates and many other scannable items can be included in your video, but each item will count as a photograph.
